Muscular Dystrophy Campaign - My Online World

View Website

The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, the leading UK charity focusing on all muscle disease, appointed tictoc to develop a secure and interactive content driven portal website created specifically for children aged 5-17 with muscular dystrophy.

Requirements
The aim of the site is to encourage interaction between the children while also ensuring that they feel comfortable to discuss any issues they might have with their illness.

Solution
Due to the wide age range tictoc proposed developing a single website with different content and visual appearance for children under 13 and over 13. The children can then tailor the look and feel of 'their site' by altering the skin, colour schemes and graphics. Each child can also create their online 'avatar' with an interactive character builder, this is then used throughout the site including in some of the purpose developed Flash games. The child can set 'their preferences' to tailor the content to their 'likes' as required. Several cool intreractive featues were also developed, these include - chatrooms, Thought Tree (sort of like Twitter but for kids!), games, reviews and puzzles. All content is managed (including moderation) by MDC through a tailored version of tictoc's Content Management System.

We also developed a number of other sites for Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, including their main site, and a range of microsites including for their charity of the year campaign,  an art competition for schools, and one about a http://www.tictocfamily.com/showcase/782_muscular-dystrophy-campaign-golf-micrositethey run.
