Architecture & Design Scotland

View Website

Architecture & Design Scotland is Scotland's national champion for good architecture, design and planning in the built environment.

Requirements
As a new organisation A&DS required an information driven internet site to allow architects, planners, developers and other users to view their design reports and research, as well as locate information, support and advice.

Solution
Following a period of research and assessment of how best to achieve the goals of A&DS tictoc presented their proposed project scope. The creative brief was to develop a visual language that is clean, colourful, easy to navigate and quick to load. One challenge was that within three years the website would be populated with thousands of design reports and tictoc needed to find a solution that would allow users to search this easily. We developed a filter system in which content would be ‘tagged’ to allow filtering by location, type of user and building/architecture service. There was also a requirement to allow members and board members to view sensitive information, so uploaded content is allocated a privilege level by administrators to ensure it is populated into the correct area.

Features

  • tictoc’s Clever Monkey content management system which allows manipulation and management of all site content and functionality was tailored to requirements
  • Powerful content tagging system to allow easy filtering of thousands of documents which will be uploaded over the coming years
  • Bespoke searches for online databases
  • Integration with internal offline Design Report database
  • Multi-level secure members areas for staff and board level users to view sensitive data
  • Simple to use eNewsletter system with automated subscribe/unsubscribe

Results
The website has been used extensively by A&DS and the target market, with new features such as video clips added as the site is developed on an ongoing basis.
