Sector Skills Council gets Active with its new website

SkillsActive, the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure and Learning, has launched its new website.

SkillsActive works to improve training, skills and qualifications within each of its five sub-sectors: sport and recreation, health and fitness, the outdoors, playwork, and caravan industries. It also promotes the importance of the industry as a whole, not only for its major contribution to the economy, but also its role in key government agendas, including health, physical activity, social cohesion, personal and social development and education.

SkillsActive wanted its new website to have improved navigation architecture, visual stylings, interactivity and user experience to ensure that it fully engages with its audiences. There are sections of the site for each of the sub-sectors that SkillsActive works with, so that news items and information about training and qualifications relevant to a particular sector can be easily navigated. As SkillsActive works across the whole of the UK, users can also filter information so it is regionally relevant.

SkillsActive e-services and communications officer, Andrew Brown, said:We wanted our new website to be clean, uncluttered and to be much more user friendly. We are particularly excited about engaging with visitors through our blog and twitter, which are now integrated into the site and are integral to our future digital strategy.

“Our website is fundamental to raising our profile as a Sector Skills Council and demonstrating to employers how we can help them grow and develop their workforce. While we have come a long way with this redevelopment, we look forward to working with tictoc on further developments over the coming months."
