YoungMinds website

YoungMinds was established in 1993 and is the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the emotional well being and mental health of children and young people. They were looking for an agency to work collaboratively with them in redeveloping their site to make it modern and vibrant and which was attractive to their wide and varied audience.

The new site had to cater for Young People needing advice & information on emotional wellbeing & mental health services, Parents with worries about their childs' behaviour or who have a child with long-term mental health problems.

Through rationalising the information architecture of the site we were able to make the user journeys far clearer. Previously there were sections for Parents and Young People, but getting to key information was quite disjointed, therefore if a teenager with depression were to visit, unless they landed directly on the Depression page from a search engine, it was unclear how to get to the info needed. We remedied that in a couple ways. Firstly, we created clear landing pages for all of the conditions YoungMinds have info on, but we also made it a lot clearer how to get there from the homepage through clear signposting. The site also allows YoungMInds to showcase their campaigning and policy work.

YoungMinds also offer training for teachers, social workers and others who work with youth. The offering was previously unclear, and there wasn't anything for people to do once they'd found the training section, other than calling a phone number or sending an email. We therefore incorporated a training article listing that enables them to create training 'events' with specific information about the course and the ability for users to register for the event. Finally, a persistent link to "Donate" was included so no matter where someone is on the site, they could easily find the link to the donation area.
