    Things to ponder...

    It's always difficult getting back into the swing of things after the festive break.  So, here are a few things to ponder over and a couple of interesting facts to ease you into 2009.

    We're always on the look out for interesting and unusual facts so all contributions welcome.

    • How much deeper would oceans be if sponges didn't live there?
    • Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
    • After eating, do amphibians need to wait an hour before getting OUT of the water?

    Facts

    • Ancient Egyptians would shave off their eyebrows in order to properly mourn the death of their cats.
    • A duck's quack doesn't echo. No one knows why.
    • The dot over the letter "i" is called a tittle.
    • Donald Duck comics were banned from Finland because he doesn't wear trousers.
    • The name Wendy was made up for the book "Peter Pan".  There was never a recorded Wendy before.
    • The first CD pressed in the US was Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA".
