Before youtube the only way we could get a fix of skateboarding dogs or water-skiing squirrels was on the 'and finally...' segment on the news.
In these olden days how else did we share ideas?
It wasn't so long ago but I can't remember how I made plans to meet with friends before Facebook and Twitter.
Can anyone else?
Interested to hear your thoughts.
Since I have some friends who are ALWAYS late (oh, okay, I'm quite often late, but it's only by 5 mins - some of my friends can quite happily stroll up 45mins late) the invention of the mobile phone has revolutionised my life. Now I don't need to leave the house till they text me that they'll be there in 5!
Ha! What about boys having to phone your house and speak to your dad to ask you out on a date??
Boys must have it so easy these days with the invention of text messaging! I'm sure they're even asking girls out on Bebo, Facebook and the likes!
There's a blast from the past Laura :)
Boys phoning your house, that was in the days when you had to use the phone after 6pm because it was cheaper!
Didn't we all just go to the park with a ball or a bike and deliver that legendary chat up line..."I fancy your pal, gonnae ask her for me?"
;0)
There was a time where we had to send our photos away to be processed post holiday .......
Indeed. That was always a bit of a lottery moment, but exciting :)
Bushdrums :-)
Well, when your mum had a lock on the phone, there was nothing else for it, but to jump on your spacehopper / or tincan N string stilts / or pogostick, and go out actually speak to your people....Ironically in todays BB society "take a message pass it on" is making a big comeback :)
I had both the spacehopper and the stilts but instead of the pogostick I opted for the slightly less dangerous lolo ball - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolo_ball
Back to my original post of skateboarding dogs, this was on the bbc today. Always a classsic - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/8089456.stm
Using the modern medium of the blog, I'd like to pre-empt a very happy birthday to you when it comes fiona....
Aw thanks Russ :)
It was last Thursday, much fun was had.
