Hemingway once wrote a story in just six words ("For sale: baby shoes, never worn.") and is said to have called it his best work.
Some of the top creative minds in tictoc got to work on writing their own six word story...
- wii wanted, can only spend penny.
- Groundhog Day. What again!
- To escape quicksand, reach for bottom.
- I saw you. You ignored me.
- He hates her: she always wins.
Believe me it's harder than it looks...
How about: "I hear them; they're coming closer."
or: "Sleep now, it'll be over soon."
I love "He hates her: she always wins." although putting my pedant's hat on, I'd probably want a semi-colon in there for the interdependant statements rather than a full apposition indicated by the colon, but that's me being overly anal.
European draw at five (for some).
Graham, your pedant's hat suits you, carry on wearing it! I stand corrected, it should indeed by a semi-colon. Do you carry round a red pen for correcting bad menu spelling too, or is that just me?? I think that one goes into the 'bad habits you should never blog about' category. Ooops.
It's a personality quirk that's become an occupational hazard - being a Technical Author and Editor it suits me quite well.
I admit I do carry a red pen but I usually manage to exercise great restraint in correcting things while I'm out. I save all that up for when I'm in the office, although I'm sure Colin could tell you a few stories of when I've been over zealous in the pub...
